Well, the first point is that whilst you are studying a degree programme in the UK and are on a Student visa, you can work on a conditional basis. This means you can find employment and legally be able to earn some money during your studies. Now, there is a subtle and important difference between working to earn money (for example, to pay for accommodation or course fees) than working to broaden experience and have some pocket money to spend on everyday items. Sure, one can save for the former, but normally the work resides in the latter category of enhancing work experience and earning a basic salary. Your presence in the UK is primarily for study purposes and it is therefore expected your primary focus will on your studies. Having work on the side is encouraged, though not essential unless it directly relates to your programme.
